The American Bee Journal was founded by Samuel Wagner and was published continuously since its founding in 1861 until today, except for a brief period during the Civil War.  It remains one of the oldest Beekeeping newspapers in the world.

The newspaper has the honor of being the publication of beekeeping in the world's oldest English language. For years many loyal readers newspapers have spent their sons and daughters in the family of beekeepers. In recent years, interest in beekeeping has grown enormously, finding a growing number of hobbyists beekeepers underwriting it.

Many of these hobbyists have other outdoor hobbies and bees are necessary for the production of honey and pollination of fruits and vegetables. Readers are amateurs, commercial beekeepers, bee supply dealers, queen breeders, honey crackers, and entomologists.

This collection covers 61 years of this classic journal, starting with the first issue of 1861 all the way through 1921.  We also have included an additional 6 years of Gleanings in Bee Culture, our other classic beekeeping journal continuing on from our Volume 2 DVD.
