Learn how to speak Azerbaijani
Azerbaijani, also referred to as
Azeri Turkic or Azeri Turkish, is a Turkic language spoken
primarily by the Azerbaijanis, who are concentrated mainly
in Transcaucasia and Iranian Azerbaijan. The language has
official status in Azerbaijan and Dagestan (a federal
subject of Russia) but it does not have official status in
Iranian Azerbaijan, where the majority of Azerbaijanis live.
It is also spoken to lesser varying degrees in Azerbaijani
communities of Georgia and Turkey and by diaspora
communities, primarily in Europe and North America.
Azerbaijani is a member of the Oghuz branch of the Turkic
languages. It has two primary divisions, North Azerbaijani
(spoken in the Republic of Azerbaijan and Russia, based on
the Shirvani dialect) and South Azerbaijani (spoken in Iran,
based on the Tabrizi dialect), and is closely related to
Turkish, Qashqai, Turkmen and Crimean Tatar, sharing varying
degrees of mutual intelligibility with each of those
languages.
This foreign
language course was developed by groups commissioned by the
government. It is meant to be used as a crash course in
a foreign language for basic conversational ability by a
foreign traveler or diplomat. It is an introductory
course meant for beginners and includes basic conversational
language by native speakers.
This course
consists of a brief basic introduction to Azerbaijani, with text and audio files.
There are 24 files in mp3 format, with one 17 page student text in PDF
format. Adobe Reader is
required to view the PDF files, while the mp3 files can be
listened to by any audio player on your PC.

time of course: Approx 1 hour and 15 minutes in audio length
A must have resource for any foreign traveler!
Notice:
Please note, this disk is only for use in your computer's

This is a DVD-ROM disk, so you need a DVD-ROM drive on your PC
to play it.
This disk contains this
foreign language course in MP3 format. This is not for
use in your CD player, it is not for your DVD player, even
if they play MP3 disks. This disk is only formatted to
be opened in your computer. You have to insert this
disk in your PC, click on "My Computer" and click on the
disk to open the files. You can copy the MP3 files to
your PC, and then load them on to any MP3 player of your
choice. Please note: that if you try to
play this disk on anything other than your computer, it
