Back starting in the Great Depression Era, and continuing on through the 50's, certain towns and cities across the country tried to promote themselves through the use of film in order to get people to move there.  This DVD explores this effort from one such region, Philadelphia.  We get a look at Philly in its surround suburbs of Mayfair, Levittown, Norristown, and Doylestown.  The films shown here present what life was like during this era in this geographic area.  While those who are from these areas might find a stronger interested in these films than other people, these films provide a great microcosm for the rest of the country during this time in American history.  It presents life in the suburbs of a major metro city.  Great for historians, scholars, educators, and students alike.

This DVD contains a fully interactive menu and runs about 2 hours.  It contains the following films:
It Happened in Mayfair (1937)

Advertising film presenting landmarks, businesses and people of a neighborhood in northeast Philadelphia during the Depression.  Shows the community, the people, and what life was like pretty well.
