HOUSE AND GARDEN MAGAZINE was launched at the end of the Victorian era in 1901.  It began as n American shelter magazine published by Condé Nast Publications.  The focus of the magazine was interior design, entertaining, and gardening, with a heavy Victorian influence. The magazine launched as a journal devoted to architecture in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Shortly after it's launch, the magazine became part of Condé Montrose Nast's publishing empire when he bought an interest in it in 1911. Soon thereafter, Nast transformed it into a magazine about interior design, as part of his trend toward specialized publications aimed at niche markets.  This collection remains an excellent set of documentation of Victorian influence that existed in the early 1900's on every day homes.  Over the past 100 years, House and Gardens transformed many times, but focused on reflecting home and interior design trends of the day. If you are interested in looking through authentic Victorian home designs of the early 1900's, this collection is for you. Equally as interested as the content of the magazine, are the old avertisements of the day.  Great for research, scrapbooking, or incorporating into your old home renovation.

We are also including 3 bonus books on Victorian home designs for free!
